John Griffin
Attorney
John Griffin is an experienced and knowledgeable attorney, with a background in litigation and transactional work. John began his legal career handling general civil litigation at small firms, both through various agencies and in short term positions, performing tasks from document review on a class action to first-chairing (and winning) a bench trial over ownership of an independent film.
John returned to entertainment law as Director of Business Affairs for M-G-M’s emerging unscripted division, which led him to heading a 6-year project at Amazon Studios Legal implementing the Rightsline rights management and production tracking system. He has also served Of Counsel or on contract for firms including Feig Finkel LLP, Creativ Law, Wolk & Levine, Full Circle Business Law, Kamps Legal, Lowe & Associates, Kirkland & Ellis, Meyers Nave, and Frandzel Robins Bloom Csato, handling matters such as online takedowns, drafting privacy policies and terms of service, legal delivery for Martin Scorsese’s Silence, and negotiating and drafting licensing, talent, rights, and option agreements for feature films and series.
Before law school, John spent 15 years writing, producing, and directing documentaries for cable television, including over 30 episodes of A&E’s Biography series, earning a Gracie Award, an Emmy nomination, and a Prism Award Commendation. John has returned to civil litigation work with a primary focus on public entity and general liability defense.
